A RESOLUTION:
DECLARING THE BARNS AT THE UTILITY MAINTENANCE DIVISION
SITE AS SURPLUS PROPERTY AND AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF
THE BARN MATERIALS TO THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA REGIONAL
PARK AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg owns property at 1385 East Market Street; and
WHEREAS, there exists two deteriorating barns on said property that pose safety hazards and are
of no beneficial use to the Town; and
WHEREAS, the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NVRPA) has expressed interest in
acquisition of these barn materials, to include: wood siding, beams, and stone for reuse at the proposed
Temple Hall Regional Park Visitor's Center, north of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, this donation will be beneficial to both parties by eliminating a safety hazard while
also preserving and reusing material from the old barn.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia:
SECTION I. The Leesburg Town Council hereby declares the barns at 1385 East Market Street
as surplus property of the Town.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement in a
form approved by the Town Attorney, for donation of materials from the barns at the Utility Maintenance
Division site to NVRPA for use at the Temple Hall Regional Park Visitor's Center.
