HomeMy Public PortalAbout2008_12_09_R196 Supporting INOVA Cornwall Expansion Plans The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED: December 9. 2008 ADOPTED: December 9. 2008 RESOLUTION NO.: 2008-196 A RESOLUTION: SUPPORTING THE INOV A CORNWALL EMERGENCY ROOM AND INOV A LOUDOUN EXPANSION PLANS WHEREAS, INOV A reopened the Cornwall emergency room in 2004, which has greatly benefited the Leesburg and Western Loudoun County area, and WHEREAS, INOV A has shown plans to the Town Council and other stakeholders to expand their facilities at Cornwall; and WHEREAS, the Countywide Health Care Facilities Policies provide that: "The Cornwall Emergency facility, located in Leesburg presently serves as a much-needed receiving facility for EMS ambulances and residents in Western Loudoun. The County encourages the reestablishment of a full service facility at the Cornwall Campus. The County will encourage continued use and development of the Cornwall campus;" and WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg believes the expansion of Cornwall and continued operation of the emergency room is vital to the local economy and attracting a George Mason University campus to the Leesburg area. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town of Leesburg supports the continued operation of INOV A's Cornwall campus, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Town of Leesburg requests the County Board of Supervisors to consider these factors when deciding on future hospital expansions in Loudoun County. PASSED this 9th day of December. 2008.
