A RESOLUTION: ENDORSING THE APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING THE
TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OF THE
DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION FOR
A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT IN
ORDER TO FUND THE TOWN OF LEESBURG SAFE-T-RIDE
REAL-TIME TRANSIT INFORMATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, pedestrian safety through out the Town is an important element of
Leesburg's Town Plan and Town Council vision; and
WHEREAS, the Town currently partners with Virginia Regional Transit (VRT) to
provide the Safe-T-Ride shuttle bus service in Rt. 15 Bypass and Edwards Ferry Road
area to provide a safe alternative for pedestrians crossing these roadways; and
WHEREAS, the Town is eligible for a Community Development Block Grant that
could be used to fund the installation of LED indicator signs at key Safe-T-Ride stop
locations to provide real-time bus arrival times to encourage increased usage of the
shuttle bus service by pedestrians wanting to cross the Rt. 15 Bypass.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia
as follows:
SECTION I. The Town Council endorses this application for a Community
Development Block Grant for the Town of Leesburg Safe-T-Ride Real-time Transit
Information Project.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is authorized to execute any and all ofthe
documents associated with the grant.

SECTION III. The Town of Leesburg hereby agrees to pay a minimum 10 percent
of the total cost for this project.
