A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING
ORDINANCE TO INCORPORATE THE REVISED OLD AND
HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGN GUIDELINES AND TO AMEND
SECTIONS AS NECESSARY TO RECONCILE DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND THE REVISED
DESIGN GUIDELINES
WHEREAS, the Town Council adopted a comprehensive revision to the Old and Historic
District Design Guidelines on January 27, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the Old and Historic District Design Guidelines are incorporated into the
Zoning Ordinance by reference in Article 3; and
WHEREAS, revisions to various sections of the Zoning Ordinance are necessary to assure
that the provisions in the revised Design Guidelines are fully reconciled with the text in the Zoning
Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed amendments.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION 1. Amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are hereby initiated and referred to
the Planning Commission to incorporate the revised Old and Historic Design Guidelines into the
Zoning Ordinance and to amend sections as necessary to reconcile the provisions in the revised
Design Guidelines with the Zoning Ordinance text.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE REVISED GUIDELINES AND THE
ZONING ORDINANCE
SECTION II. The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these
amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to the Town Council
pursuant to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
