A RESOLUTION: ACCEPTING THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER FEASIBILITY STUDY
AS PRESENTED TO COUNCIL ON JANUARY 26, 2009 AND
DIRECTING THE STEERING COMMITTEE TO PREP ARE A WORK
PLAN FOR IMPLEMENTATION
WHEREAS, in October 2006, the Leesburg Town Council directed the Economic
Development Commission and the Public Art Commission to conduct a performing arts facility
analysis; and
WHEREAS, a Performing Arts Task Force was created by the Economic Development
Commission and the Public Art Commission to complete that analysis; and
WHEREAS, in September 2007, the Performing Arts Task Force presented the results of
their analysis to the Town Council; and
WHEREAS, in October 2007, the Town Council accepted the Task Force's report and
directed the Town Manager to allocate $35,000 to conduct a feasibility study and develop a
business plan for a performing arts center in Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, in June 2008, ArtsMarket was contracted by the Town of Leesburg to conduct
the feasibility study and develop the business plan for a performing arts center; and
WHEREAS, a Performing Arts Center Steering Committee was formed from members of
the Performing Arts Task Force to advise the consultant on the feasibility study and business plan;
and
WHEREAS, ArtsMarket presented their final report, "A Center for the Arts in Leesburg,
V A, Consultant Recommendations and Ten Year Business Plan" to the Town Council on January
26,2009; and

THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
report "A Center for the Arts in Leesburg, V A Consultant Recommendations and Ten Year
Business Plan" as prepared by ArtsMarket and presented to the Council on January 26, 2009 is
hereby accepted.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Performing Arts Center Steering Committee is directed to
prepare a work plan for the implementation of the report recommendations and to present that work
plan to the Town Council not later than March 30,2009.
