A RESOLUTION:
TOWN COUNCIL SUPPORT FOR ACOUSTICS ON THE GREEN CONCERT
SERIES
WHEREAS, over the past several years, the Town has provided the venue for the Saturday
evening concerts on the Town Green known as the Acoustics on the Green Concerts; and
WHEREAS, the Acoustics on the Green Concert event, was founded and supported by
local businessman Stilson Greene, and provides high quality acoustic concerts for a 10-week
period from June through August; and
WHEREAS, these events are open to the public at no cost and are supported by sponsors
and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, recogmzmg the value of the concerts to the community, and to the
downtown, it is the Town's desire to maintain the community nature of these concerts, and
provide the logistical and financial support to allow these concerts to continue as originally
designed by Stilson Greene; and
WHEREAS, it is the Town's goal to encourage community participation, sponsorships,
and volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the program, website, and posters will continue to be donated, and the
largest potential cost to the Town will be staff support at the event to supplement volunteer
efforts, as needed.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of up to $15,000 for the 2009 Acoustic on the

Green Concert Series with an end-of-year report on the series attendance, volunteer participation,
and direct town costs.
