Dear Sirs,
I am writing to comment on two items before the City Council and the
citizens of McCall.
First is the issue of the Airport Master Plan and the preferred Alternative
which calls for the airport to expand from a BII designation to a CII/CIII
in phases. I would prefer the city support moving the existing taxiway the
40' required by the FAA to come into compliance with BII standards. I am
not in favor of moving the taxiway to either the CII (300') or CIII (400')
standard which will only promote larger aircraft and the pressure to expand
the airport. I do think the city should work with the county in pursuing
the feasiblity of a regional airport.
The second issue is the Through the Fence proposal. I urge the city to deny
this type of operation at the airport especially since the FAA discourages
TTF's and the city could possibly lose federal funding to maintain the
airport at its current level. The developers are almost holding the city
"hostage" in saying the access agreement must be granted right now or else
the whole project will be tabled. Please don't rush to judgement as once
this door is open, there may be no turning back.
Thank you for accepting my comments.
