A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO SEND A LETTER TO THE VIRGINIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (VDOT), THE LOUDOUN COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND THE TOWN'S FEDERAL AND STATE
LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVES REQUESTING THAT VDOT PROCEED
WITH THE DESIGN CONTRACT FOR THE WIDENING OF THE ROUTE 7/15
BYPASS WHICH INCLUDES THE SYCOLIN ROAD OVERPASS AS THE
FIRST STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, The Leesburg Town Council passed Resolution 2008-156 on October 15, 2008
requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) establish a project schedule for the
widening of the Route 7/15 Bypass project, which includes the Sycolin Road overpass as the first stage
of construction; and
WHEREAS, there are adequate funds available for VDOT to proceed with the design contract for
the widening of the Route 7/15 Bypass project, including the Sycolin Road overpass; and
WHEREAS, elimination of the Route 7/15 Bypass/Sycolin Road intersection is one of the
highest priorities for the Town of Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, this project has a substantial regional benefit, which includes eliminating the
highest accident location in Leesburg and one of the highest accident locations in Loudoun County; and
WHEREAS, the support of our Federal, State and County representatives is vital to ensure the
project proceeds expeditiously.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Mayor
is authorized to send a letter to VDOT and the Town's legislative representatives requesting that VDOT
to proceed with the design contract for the widening of the Route 7/15 Bypass project which includes the
Sycolin Road overpass as the first stage of construction.

A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SEND A LETTER TO THE TOWN OF
LEESBURG'S FEDERAL AND STATE REPRESENTATIVES AS WELL AS THE
LOUDOUN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS REQUESTING THEIR
ASSISTANCE IN REQUSTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORT A TION (VDOT) TO PROCEED WITH THE DESIGN CONTRACT FOR
THE WIDENING OF THE ROUTE 7/15 BYPASS WHICH INCLUDES THE SYCOLIN
ROAD OVERPASS AS THE FIRST STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION
THEREFORE, FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
VDOT is also requested to assign funding for construction of this project.
