HomeMy Public PortalAbout2009_07_14_R081 - Waiving Special Event Fees for Dog Days The Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED July 14.2009 ADOPTED July 14.2009 A RESOLUTION: WAIVING SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FEES FOR 2009 DOG DAYS EVENT IN DOWNTOWN LEES BURG ON OCTOBER 18,2009. RESOLUTION NO. 2009-081 WHEREAS, the Leesburg Downtown Business Association (LDBA) held a Dog Days event in Downtown Leesburg in October 2008 and is planning to hold another Dog Days event on Sunday, October 18,2009, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost for Town staff support for the event is $2,254.50, which includes $2,004.50 for Public Works and $250 for Police services; and WHEREAS, the Town staff costs are generally part of the Special Event Permit process that is required to be completed by an event organizer for any event to be held in the Town that impacts public property, normal vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and/or the safety of citizens and visitors. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Town Council hereby waives the Special Event Permit fees of up to $2,004.50 which would fund the Public Works and Police services for the Dog Days event to he held by the Leesburg Downtown Business Association (LDBA) in downtown Leesburg on Sunday, October 18, 2009 between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. PASSED this 14th day of June 2009 \ATIU'72 I ~rkOfcounCilCJ~
