My name is Robin Wallis. I have been a residential and commercial property owner in
McCall for almost 30 years. My commercial property, The McCall Business Center,
located at the south entrance to town, has struggled along with the rest of the
business community. I made significant improvements to this property to improve its
appearance, even before there was a senic byway or impact area, because I am
committed to McCall. I want to see it prosper, with sustainable year round businesses
that will benefit everyone in the area. I believe the proposed business park would
contribute to the future economic stability of the community. There are parts of the
Airport Business Park plan that I have questions about such as locating additional
airplane hangars on the east side of the airport which is supposedly, the scenic
entrance to the community. Why wouldn't any commercial/industrial development be
located on the west side of the airport and limit the east side to business or retail that
could fit into and compliment the scenic entrance to the town we all love and want to
support. That said, the bigger picture is the future health of McCall,
In 2000, Andy Locke our first City Planner, had a meeting of McCall citizens to get
input for the Comprehensive Plan being drafted, at that time. One of the key points
almost everyone agreed on, was our community needed to create more diverse
business opportunities for a more stable economic environment. The "Through the
Fence" aspect of the proposed development is one step in that direction.
Recently, Brian O'Morrow made a presentation to Planning and Zoning . I support
this proposal and forward this email in it's support. As this project will be critical in
proceeding with the planned Business Park at the airport, permitting the completion of
necessary infrastructure (power, water, sewer, streets, etc.) at no cost to the City, it is
very important that the Council approve this agreement. I therefore request that you
support this project, described in our new Comprehensive Plan, as a means to
encourage business development in McCall, providing needed employment
opportunities with good paying jobs.
Thanks for you interest and support.
