The BREWSTER AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION
Held Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
At the Brewster Town Office Building, 2198 Main Street, Room A
Present: Peter Herrmann, Heather Mangelinkx, Dave Carlson and Jack Latham
Mr. Herrmann called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Minutes of the September 18, 2008 meeting were accepted and unanimously approved by
the board.
Town Planner, Sue Levin would like the committee to again start to get the town to
approve a right to farm bylaw.
Silverbrook Farm in Dartmouth wants to start a farmers market in Brewster. Andy
Pollock has done so in Falmouth and Provincetown. He wants to have a manager in
charge of this. Questions from the board were: who would pay for insurance, where
would it be held, is this a commercial venture and would it be open to other farms. We
would like to get an opinion from Jim Foley on this and also talk to the Agricultural
Commission in Falmouth to get their opinion.
Peter Spears has complained about Elizabeth Taylor's guinea fowl noise but she has since
gotten rid of them so the problem was solved.
Ms. Mangelinkx motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 pm, Mr. Latham seconded and
all agreed.
