Members present: Christine Glasheen, Jean Sears, Robert Steinmann, Maureen Steinmann, James Geisler, advocate. Brian Ladley was present for the last part of our meeting. Members not present: Marge Geisler. We acknowledged acceptance of January 16, 2009 meeting minutes. ~' The Chair mentioned several items of interest: Our committee will be included in the reviews of the new 40B housing ~; development in the Frederick Court area. The handicap parking spot at Sheep Pond has already been changed to the at~er side of the parking lot where it is not as steep. ~:~ Elizabeth Taylor's survey of open space (2007) noted that most people appear"to be unaware of what accessibility means in regards to conservation/recreational areas. Dana Condit of the Mill Site/Grist Mill committee spoke with Maureen and asked that our committee come to this Monday night meeting (Feb 23) re the impending improvements to be made to the mill site area. He wants our committee to give input as to how the mill site/grist mill area can be made accessible. Maureen and Bob will attend and let the other members know what happened. Brian gave our committee a Community Access Monitor Program manual. It should be a good reference source for the committee to use. He also gave us an RMV notice about the results of stricter enforcement re illegal use of handicap space and adjacent crosshatch area. Fines for those who illegally park in handicap spaces/crosshatch can support these monitoring programs and provide extra money for the town. The Chair distributed semi-final drafts of the survey results re Brewster facilities. The committee reviewed some of these notes and in particular discussed the COA re accessibility issues. The cover letter and town hall page they will review at home. Jean Sears mentioned the town is considering moving the present town hall departments, COA, thrift shop, to the Eddy School. Jean feels this would be a very good move. As to how it affects our accessibility survey, the committee feels that the basis for our recommendations and suggestions should apply to the new facility as well. The committee then reviewed the recreational /beach sites to be reviewed in the next phase of our survey. The final packet on our accessible survey relevant to Brewster's facilities will include a cover letter along with the recommendations, asummary of the surveys received, and a "Say What sheet." The meeting adjourned at 3:OSpm. Respectfully submitted by Maureen Steinmann
