we acknowledged acceptance of the April 17, 2009 meeting minutes.
Because of the weather, our scheduled on-site reviews of Drummer Boy Park, the Grist
Mill/Herring Run area, and whitecaps ball field had to be postponed until our next
and last meeting on Tune 19, 2009. Maureen handed out site review sheets to be
checked over by the committee members.
The Chair asked Brian to print up some committee address labels. These will be used
on the return envelopes for feedback given to users of the beach wheelchairs. The
committee is always looking for input re beach wheelchair users--what beaches or
areas they visited, etc. with this input we hope to be able to make one's beach
wheelchair experiences better and as enjoyable as possible.
Notification of the availability of the beach wheelchairs is at the visitors'
Center, the COA and soon to be at the Library. sue Roettig, head of the visitors'
Center, would like our committee to give her a list of recreational areas and places
that are wheelchair accessible.
our advocate, .7im, spoke with Superintendent Peterson re the Nickerson Park visitors
Center. The Superintendent hopes the step into the visitors Center will be replaced
with a ramp by early 7uly thereby making it wheelchair accessible.
dim mentioned that Bob Bersin (DPw) hoped to put the new Crosby Landing
boardwalk/platform in by Tune lst. )im was going to call Bob and ask him if he could
do the same for Linnell Landing. Tim was also going to ask Bob what happened to the
handicap parking signs at Drummer Boy Farm. Maureen ,:;nd Bob went there, and there
were no HP signs in place.
our next meeting will be on )une 19, 2009 at 2pm. we will meet at Drummer Boy Park
and then visit the Herring Run area, the whitecaps Ballfield, and the Captains Golf
Course.
The meeting adjourned at 3:OOpm.
Respectfully submitted by Maureen Steinmann.
