HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2012-09-18 1812 Concert #2 Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release American Originals Fife & Drum Corps and West Point Alumni Glee Club Added to War of 1812 Bicentennial Concert Event at Leesburg’s Ida Lee Park This Sunday Leesburg, VA (September 18, 2012) – The 1812 Bicentennial Committee announced today the addition of the American Originals Fife & Drum Corps and the West Point Glee Club to the program for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Concert on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg. The family-friendly festival is a joint production of the Loudoun Symphony, The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership, Visit Loudoun and the Town of Leesburg. The festival will feature an outdoor performance by the entire Loudoun Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Mark Allen McCoy. The program of music will include a wide range of historically compelling pieces, with such beloved works as the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, Fanfare for the Common Man and a rendition of Liberty for All narrated by famed baritone Robert Cantrell. The highlight of the concert will be a performance of the 1812 Overture, Tchaikovsky’s moving and powerful ode to patriotism. The event schedule will be the following: 2:00 pm Gates Open 2:45 pm American Originals Fife & Drum Corps performance 3:15 pm West Point Alumni Glee Club performance 4:00 pm Loudoun Symphony Orchestra concert Onsite food vendors will include Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, NC Ribs on Wheels and the Ice Cream Lady. General admission tickets at the gate are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students. Children under twelve are free. Advance tickets purchased online receive a $5 per ticket discount.
