A RESOLUTION: SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION FOR $23,413 TO THE FY 2010
AIRPORT FUND OPERATIONS BUDGET FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS
TO THE MAIN AIRCRAFT PARKING APRON
WHEREAS, freezing thawing of snow after the February snowstorms resulted in the buildup of
ice on the airport parking aprons; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the freezing and thawing of ice, the top two inches of certain areas of
the main parking apron failed causing small rock debris to be distributed in front of hangars and the first
two aircraft tie down rows; and
WHEREAS, debris becomes airborne and presents a safety hazard for individuals and aircraft
when aircraft are started and taxi on the main apron; and
WHEREAS, immediate repairs are necessary to eliminate this hazard; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Aviation has approved maintenance grant for $18,730 or
80% and the Airport Fund will provide $4,683 or 20% of the cost to make the emergency repairs to the
parking apron.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that a
supplemental appropriation to the FY 2010 Airport Fund Operations Budget in the amount of $23,413 is
approved for emergency repairs to the main apron parking area at the Leesburg Airport.
