A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE WAIVER OF FEES FOR THE PROPOSED VIRGINIA
CHARITY DUATHLON AT LEESBURG
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2010, Town Council was briefed by a representative from the
Loudoun Cares Advisory Board, on a proposed triathlon event to raise funds for several local
charities; and
WHEREAS, the triathlon would start and end at Ida Lee Park and use various streets and
parts of the W&OD trail; and
WHEREAS, Resolution #2010-033 was passed on March 23, 2010 "to endorse the concept
of a waiver of associated Town costs for the Loudoun Cares/ Loudoun Free Clinic Triathlon, with a
final decision to be made once costs and .impacts have been identified;" and
WHEREAS, the group submitted a special event application for the "Virginia Charity
Triathlon" to the Town's Community Events Committee (CEC) on April 29, 2010, and following
additional discussion about logistics of the event, the organizers notified the CEC they intended to
change the event to a duathlon; and
WHEREAS, the new event would be staged entirely on the Ida Lee Park property and not
require street closures or the use of the W&OD bike trail; thus minimizing the impact on the Town;
and
WHEREAS, the associated costs'and fees for the event are as follows:
Pool Rental $555.00
Park Rental $750.00
Staffing $140.00
Total Cost $1,445.00

A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE WAIVER OF FEES FOR THE PROPOSED VIRGINIA
CHARITY DUATHLON AT LEESBURG
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
Town associated costs and fees in the amount of $1,445.00 for the 2010 "Virginia Charity Duathlon
- Leesburg" are waived.
PASSED this 8~' day of June, 2010.
