New Activities Added to 3rd Annual Leesburg Airshow on
Saturday, September 29, 2012
Loudoun County Department of Economic Development and ProJet Aviation
are the Airshow’s featured sponsors.
Leesburg, VA (September 18, 2012) – The
Loudoun County Department of Economic
Development will host a hands-on grape
pressing demonstration at the Leesburg
Airshow on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The
demonstration will highlight the agricultural
side of Loudoun County and the County’s
many wineries. The Loudoun County
Department of Economic Development, along
with ProJet Aviation, is a Jet Level sponsor of
the 3rd annual Leesburg Airshow.
The Leesburg Airshow will take place at the Leesburg Executive Airport on Saturday, September
29, 2012, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission to the Leesburg Airshow is free. The Leesburg
Executive Airport is located at 1001 Sycolin Road SE in Leesburg. Free satellite parking will be
available at the Sycolin Road Park & Ride Commuter Lot, just south of the airport, at Heritage
High School (520 Evergeen Mill Road) and off Miller Drive. Complimentary shuttles will run
continuously from 10:45am until 4:30pm.
Gates for the airshow will open at 11:00am The airshow’s static display area, located on the
airport’s parking ramp, will feature experimental and antique aircraft. World War II era aircraft
on display will include a P-51 Mustang, a T-6 Texan, a Fairchild PT-19, and a Spitfire fighter. In
addition, Blackhawk (UH-60) and Lakota (UH-72) helicopters will be on display. Other tarmac
attractions will include a variety of aviation-related displays, food vendors and a classic car
show.
The aerial portion of the Airshow will begin at 11:30am, when a C-17 Globemaster transport
aircraft from Dover AFB, Delaware, will fly over the airfield. Aerobatic performances begin at

1:00pm, including Kirk Wicker and his “Flying Farmer” routine, wingwalker Jane Wicker and
Charlie Schwenker’s gravity-defying performance in his Extra 300 airplane. The airshow will be
narrated by nationally acclaimed air show announcer Danny Clisham and will last approximately
two hours.
