Town Hall HVAC
Herb Montgomery, Greg Levasseur, Jillian Douglass and Charlie Sumner met with
representatives from RISE engineering relative to the Town Hall HVAC project.
Unfortunately the bid came in extremely high; well in excess of the original
engineering estimate.
_Stony Brook Elementary School Addition Project
Patrick Welch from TLCR made a presentation of a modified proposal, which is
dated as of July 15, 2009 that includes 2 plans alternatives (G & H). These plans
essentially show 8 classrooms, with associated support specifications. It also includes
using spares currently located inside the existing Stony Brook School. These two
approaches increases the additions size to approximately 13, 500 square feet and
approaching $2.7 million. They will be using a variety of low maintenance exterior
materials on the project. The classrooms will be approximately 900 square feet.
Each classroom will have sinks with bubblers. Denise Fronius preference is plan
«H„
Greg Levasseur expressed his concern with the fact that the project has increased in
size and cost. The project would result in 32 total classrooms versus the current 30
classrooms available between the two schools. He really feels that cost escalation
factors are a threat to the overall plan. He would like to consider eliminating 2
classrooms. Denise Fronius feels that Plan "H" has a lot of benefits to the overall
program.
The group, after significant deliberation, refocused on Scheme "D" with a
reconfiguration of the space. This will result in eight classrooms, 2 special needs
spaces, staff work room and associated other spaces. TLCR will come up with a
modified plan for next Mondays school committee meeting.
Greg Levasseur moved that the BNAC support a modified scheme "D". Richard
Kosinski second. This was unanimously approved by the committee.
The next meeting will be on July 22, 2009 at 7:30 pm. 9 ~' Zld 9- (ld 60,
