HomeMy Public PortalAboutCable Television Advisory -- 2009-09-01 MinutesMinutes of the meeting of the Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee scheduled for 7 pm on Tuesday 1 September 2009. The meeting is called to order at 7:00 pm on Tuesday 1 September 2009 by Larry Greeley. Members present at this time are: Larry Greeley Norman Adams Larry Bugden Janet Husband Walter Powers There is no person present in the audience area at this time. Norman Adams distributes copies of the draft minutes of the meeting of Tuesday, 4 August 2009, as well as copies of the approved and subsequently filed minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 7 July 2009. A motion is made by Walter Powers and seconded by Larry Bugden to approve the minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 4 August 2009 as presented. The vote to accept is unanimous. Larry Greeley reports that The Camera Company, which is operating out of the Braintree area, has been awarded the bid for the equipment for the government channel. Larry reports that we have recently received a $31,000 payment for six months from Comcast. Larry mentions the current status of the negotiations with Comcast -unchanged since the last a-mail which was about 22 August 2009. There is some (rather acerbic) discussion about the progress of the negotiations with Comcast. Larry reports that the Board of Selectmen wants this committee to come up with a job description of the media person that might be hired to run the government channel, etc. Larry passes out copies of 4 job description documents that might be useful in this matter: Town of Dennis, Massachusetts -Draft Job Description for MIS Media Specialist Dennis, Massachusetts -Draft Job Description for MIS Director Video Technician -Town of Orleans, Massachusetts Media Program Coordinator (Town of Orleans, Massachusetts) We discuss these documents as a preliminary to constructing our draft of a job description document. Our discussions focus on the Orleans Media Program Coordinator document. After a brief discussion concerning the next meeting there is general agreement to skip the October meeting but to have the November meeting at the regular date, time, and place. The meeting seems to be out of other business to be taken up tonight. A motion to adjourn is made by Janet Husband and seconded by Larry Bugden. The motion is passed unanimously. As the meeting is closing Janet Husband volunteers to produce and to circulate to the committee members (via a-mail) a draft of the desired job description. Her offer is greeted with enthusiastic albeit informal assent. The meeting is adjourned at 8:35 pm. "~rw~ Qa.w. Submitted by Norman Adams, Clerk, Brewster CTVAC ~.i ~~' _, ci (icy', i1~`Pd ~~.4,
