HomeMy Public PortalAboutCable Television Advisory -- 2009-12-01 MinutesMinutes of the meeting of the Brewster Cable TV Advisory Committee scheduled for 7:00 pm on Tuesday 1 December 2009. The meeting is called to order at 7:01 pm on Tuesday l December 2009 by Larry Greeley. Members present at this time are: Larry Greeley Norman Adams Janet Husband Walter Powers The meeting tonight has been scheduled for and is taking place in the "Break Room" which is located in the upper level of the basement. The room is small but there is enough area to accommodate a few people other than the committee itself. In fact there are no persons present as audience members. Larry Greeley reports briefly on the progress that is being made at the LCCC meetings. He then places a call to Bill Solomon on a speaker phone to effect a conference of the committee with Bill. There is a brief discussion of basic service and rate regulation of that basic service. Bill states that it is difficult to achieve anything meaningful in that area because Comcast can shift costs around and many things are not subject to anything but "what the traffic will bear". There is some discussion of the negotiated extension of Comcast services to presently unserved areas of Truro where the density of houses is very low. Even with this improved coverage there would be quite a few people in Truro who would still not be included in the areas of Comcast service. The call is ended with a feeling of hope that the negotiations will soon reach a satisfactory conclusion. Norman Adams distributes copies of the draft minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 3 November 2009 as well as copies of the approved and subsequently filed minutes of the meeting of Tuesday 1 September 2009. A motion is made by Janet Husband and seconded by Walter Powers to approve the minutes of the meeting of 1 September 2009 as presented. The vote to accept is unanimous. There is further discussion on the negotiations with Comcast. Larry mentions that there will be a public meeting of the Orleans Board of Selectmen on Wednesday 9 December 2009 in the Orleans Town Hall at which Bill Solomon will present a status report on the negotiations with Comcast. There is general agreement that the next meeting of this committee should occur on the standard schedule, to wit, on the first Tuesday of January at 7 pm. The meeting seems to be out of other business to be taken up tonight. A motion to adjourn is made by Walter Powers and seconded by Janet Husband. The motion is passed unanimously. The meeting is adjourned at 8:37 pm. m r 7 Submitted by Norman Adams, Clerk, Brewster CTVAC '~ `~-.~ `' u-~ `~ '.~ r.~a r-., R, ^'
