A RESOLUTION: INITATING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEESBURG ZONING
ORDINANCE SECTIONS 18 DEFINITIONS, SECTION 6.4 B-2
(ESTABLISHED CORRIDOR COMMERCIAL DISTRICT), SECTION 6.5
B-3 (COMMUITY RETAIL/COMMERCIAL DISTRICT), SECTION 6.7
(INDUSTRIAL/RESEARCH PARK DISTRICT), AND SECTION 9.2 USE
TABLE TO PERMIT THE USE OF A CATTERY.
WHEREAS, the Town Plan encourages a mix of land uses; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance permits Veterinary Hospital by Special
Exception in the R-E, B-2, B-3, B-4, and I-1 zoning districts; and
WHEREAS, the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance Section 18.1.88 defines "Kennel" to include
both dog and cats, and is only allowed by special exception in certain zoning districts; and
WHEREAS, the intent of the zoning ordinance text amendment is to establish a definition
for [he overnight boarding of cats only, a "Cattery", and amend the permitted uses of the B-2, B-3,
and I-1 zoning districts, and revise the use table in Section 9.2.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. Amendments to Zoning Ordinance sections 6.4, 6.5, 6.7 and 9.2 are hereby
initiated and referred to the Planning Commission to define a "Cattery" and allow a "Cattery" in the
B-2, B-3, and I-I zoning districts.
SECTION IL The Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider these
amendments [o the Zoning Ordinance, and report its recommendation to [he Town Council pursuant
to Chapter 22, Title 15.2-2204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended.
