A RESOLUTION: TO PROVIDE FOR AN EXTENSION UNTB. FEBRUARY 1, 2011 THE TERM
OF THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE AGREEMENT HELD BY
COMCAST OF CALIFORN W MARYLAND/ PENNSYLV AN W VIRGIN W
WEST VIRGINIA, LLC ("COMCAST" OR "THE FRANCHISEE")., FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PERMITTING THE TOWN OF LEESBURG AND THE
FRANCHISE TO COMPLETE RENEWAL DISCUSSIONS
WHEREAS, [he Town of Leesburg, Virginia and Comcas[ are parties to a cable television franchise
agreement formerly held by Adelphia Communications Corporation dated October 3Q 2000; and
WHEREAS, the franchise agreement expires on October 7, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Town and Comcast are engaged in discussions concerning [he renewal of the
franchise agreement and [hose discussions have not been completed; and
WHEREAS, the Town wishes to extend the term of [he franchise agreement to allow time for the
parties [o complete negotiations; and
WHEREAS, Comcas[ has provided its consent for [he proposed extension of the Franchise, in the
form of [he letter attached; and
WHEREAS, the Town and Comcast both desire to reserve their respective rights under sm[e and
federal law, including, without limitation, 47 U.SC. §546.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by [he Council of [he Town of Leesburg in Virginia [ha[:
The teen of the Franchise Agreement is hereby extended until February I, 201 l; and
2. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
