A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC INPUT SESSION TO SOLICIT
COMMENTS TO CHANGE ELECTION DATE FROM MAY TO
NOVEMBER
WHEREAS, the continued success of a democratic government depends upon [he
participation of its citizens and in the democratic process; and
WHEREAS, Virginia law provides that the governing body of a Town may
provide, by ordinance, [hat elections may be held in either May or November.
THEREFORE, the Leesburg Town Council directs the Town Attorney to prepaze
and place an ad to solicit public input to determine whether to change the date of the
election from May to November (to be held on even or odd numbered years), as
appropriate.
