A RESOLUTION: SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION TO THE FY 2011 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,000 FOR THE LEASE OF
SPACE AND PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE
MASON ENTERPRISE CENTER
WHEREAS, [he Town has been working in collaboration with George Mason University [o
establish [he Mason Enterprise Center -Leesburg (Center) [o serve as an incubator [o assist start up
businesses with space and administrative support; and
WHEREAS, the Center is scheduled to open on or before October 1, 2010 at 15 North King
Street; and
WHEREAS, the Center will be managed by George Mason University under a
Memorandum of Agreement with the Town; and
WHEREAS, [he Town is providing funding in [he short term for leased space and purchase
of equipment for the Center until tenant rent is sufficient to support operations; and
WHEREAS, the $42,000 supplemental appropriation will be used for the first year cost of
the lease ($39,000.00) with [he remainder being used for office supplies and necessary equipment
(copier, telephones, etc.); and
WHEREAS, the Town is completing a Memorandum of Agreement to establish policies [hat
will serve as the basis for ongoing operations.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
FY 2011 General Fund budget is hereby amended and a supplemental appropriation is made in the
amount of $42,000 for the fiscal yeaz beginning on July 1, 2010 and ending on June 3Q 2011 to
initiate the Mason Enterprise Center.
