RESOLUTION NO. 2010-153 ADOPTED December 14, 2010
A RESOLUTION: AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROJECT AT SYCOLIN ROAD
AND HOPE PARKWAY TO THE BROTHERS SIGNAL COMPANY IN
THE AMOUNT OF $122,147.60
WHEREAS, the Temporary Traffic Signal project at Sycolin Road and Hope Parkway is a
funded Capital Project; and
WHEREAS, in response to public solicitation for bids for construction of the Temporary
Traffic Signal project at Sycolin Road and Hope Parkway, the Town received bids on December 2,
2010 from the following firms:
$122,147.60
$135,446.00
$153,219.00
$164,422.00
WHEREAS, the bids were evaluated by the Deputy Director of the Department of Capital
Projects and the Chief Purchasing Officer in accordance with the Town purchasing Policy; and
WHEREAS, The Brothers Signal Company was determined the lowest responsive and
responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, this is a unit price contract and the estimated quantities multiplied by the unit
price have established the not to exceed contract price; and
WHEREAS, change order procedures are detailed in the bid specifications; and
WHEREAS, additional funding is needed to award this contract; and
A RESOLUTION: AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROJECT AT SYCOLIN ROAD
AND HOPE PARKWAY TO THE BROTHERS SIGNAL COMPANY IN
THE AMOUNT OF $122,147.60
WHEREAS, staff recommends transferring $35,000.00 from the Sycolin Road Phase II
project since the construction bids for this project came in under budget.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:
SECTION I: Staff is authorized to transfer $35,000.00 from the Sycolin Road Phase II
project to complete the funding necessary to award the construction contract.
SECTION II: The Town Manager is authorized to execute a contract in a form approved
by the Town Attorney with The Brothers Signal Company in the amount of $122,147.60 for the
construction of the Temporary Traffic Signal at Sycolin Road and Hope Parkway.
