A RESOLUTION: REAFFIRMING AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE 15 OF THE
LEESBURG ZONING ORDINANCE TO PERMIT A-
FRAME /SANDWICH BOARD SIGNS IN COMMERICAL ZONING
DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, the Town Council is supportive of providing enhanced advertising
opportunities for businesses within the Town; and
WHEREAS, in 2006 A- frame /sandwich board signs were permitted in the Old and
Historic District to enhance business advertising within a pedestrian friendly environment, and
WHEREAS, permitting A- frame /sandwich board signs throughout Leesburg in
commercial zoning districts will provide enhanced consistency of the Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Council adopted Ordinance 2010 -0 -002 on January 26, 2010 permitting A-
frame /sandwich board signs throughout Leesburg with a one year duration; automatically
renewing at the end of one year unless the ordinance is repealed by Town Council and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 2010 -0 -002 has not been repealed and therefore remains in effect;
and
WHEREAS, any A- frame /sandwich board sign permit issued within the one year limitation
remains valid and will not need to be re- issued; and
WHEREAS, any business seeking an A- frame /sandwich board sign permit from this day
forward shall follow the standard sign permit process and be subject to applicable regulations
found within Ordinance 2010 -0 -002; and
WHEREAS, the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice
require the proposed amendments.
RESOLUTION: REAFFIRMING AMENDMENTS TO ZONING ORDINANCE SECTION 6.7.2
AND SECTION 9.3.18
THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
Ordinance 2010 -0 -002 amending Article 15 of the Leesburg Zoning Ordinance to permit A-
Frame /Sandwich Board signs in commercial districts is reaffirmed.
