Report of the Meeting of March 17, 2015

The Committee convened March 17, 2015 at 6:40 pm in the Council Office. Present were Angeline
Kounelis, Chair and Vincent Piccirilli, Secretary. Anthony Palomba, Vice -Chair arrived at 6:45.
The purpose of the meeting was to interview B. Bonnie Baranowski for reappointment to the Board of
Election Commissioners.
Ms. Baranowski was first appointed as an Election Commissioner in 2008 and is its longest serving
member, having served through a period of significant turnover on the Commission as well as in the
Election Clerk's office. In Ms. Baranowski's tenure there have been multiple special elections as well
as a major recount and the redistricting following the 2010 census.
Looking towards the future, in 2016 there will be new challenges with the Voting Reform Law,
especially early voting, online voter registration, and requirements for training certification for election
officials. Ms. Baranowski is looking forward to using her experience to help Watertown adapt to these
changes.
Councilor Palomba made a motion to recommend to the Town Council that B. Bonnie Baranowski be
reappointed to the Board of Election Commissioners for a term to expire April 1, 2019; seconded by
Councilor Piccirilli, and voted 3-0.
On a motion by Councilor Palomba, seconded by Councilor Piccirilli, the meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm.
