Home My Public Portal About2011_04_12_R045 Temp Closure of Ed Ferry RdThe Town of Leesburg, Virginia PRESENTED April 12, 2011 RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -045 ADOPTED April 12, 2011 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF EDWARDS FERRY ROAD AT THE BATTLEFIELD PARKWAY INTERSECTION FROM JUNE 20, 2011 THROUGH AUGUST 19, 2011 WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Leesburg finds and determines that it is necessary to accelerate the construction of the Battlefield Parkway section from Edwards Ferry Road to Fort Evans Road to allow for an earlier opening of two lanes; and WHEREAS, the Council further finds and determines that to accelerate construction it is necessary to temporarily close Edwards Ferry Road at the Battlefield Parkway intersection from June 20, 2011 through August 19, 2011; and WHEREAS, the Council wishes to authorize the Town Manager and Director of Capital Projects Management to proceed with the temporary road closure. THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows: SECTION I. The Town Council of Leesburg, Virginia hereby finds and determines that it is necessary to accelerate construction of the Battlefield Parkway section from Edwards Ferry Road to Fort Evans Road to allow for an earlier opening of two lanes by August 26, 2011. SECTION II. That the Town Manager and Director of Capital Projects Management are hereby authorized and directed to temporarily close Edwards Ferry Road at the Battlefield Parkway intersection from June 20, 2011 through August 19, 2011, and to implement a detour plan in accordance with the Virginia Department of Transportation but allow for emergency vehicle access and two week's notice to the affected community should the reopening be delayed beyond August 19, 2011. 2 A RESOLUTION: APPROVING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF EDWARDS FERRY ROAD AT THE BATTLEFIELD PARKWAY INTERSECTION FROM JUNE 20, 2011 THROUGH AUGUST 19, 2011 SECTION III. That the Clerk of Council be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to affix the seal of the Town to such documents as may be necessary or convenient to accomplish the temporary closure of Edwards Ferry Road at the Battlefield Parkway intersection as required by this resolution.
