COMPREHENSIVE WATER PLANNING COMMITTEE
REGULAR MEETING
Monday, November 23, 2009 at 4:30 P.M.

Planning Committee
Pat Hughes convened the Comprehensive Water Planning Committee meeting at 4:35 pm in the
Brewster Town Office Building with members Joanne Hughes, Amy Usowski, Elizabeth Taylor,
Dave Michniewicz, Jane Johnson, John Lipman
Also Present: Sue Leven, Jim Gallagher, Chris Miller, Peter Johnson and Carroll Johnson
1. Update on consultant selection.
Leven: Provided an update. The BOS has approved the consultant based on the CWPC
recommendations. A draft contract has been received and the committee hopes to have a meeting
with the consultant in December or early January.
2. Discussion of regional outreach options.
There was a discussion on how and when to do outreach to neighboring towns. It was agreed to
involve the Cape Cod Commission in a technical assistance role. Also it was agreed to send a letter to
counterparts in other towns (Harwich, Dennis, Orleans, Chatham, and Eastham). The letter would be
drafted to introduce the committee and would be sent to the water commissioners, water planning
groups, health agents, BOS and any other appropriate support staff.
3. Estimates of nitrogen loading to the Namskaket Watershed.
It was noted that this had not been looked at by MEP since excess capacity was found. A discussion
on whether the committee should try and get this information occurred.
