RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -083 ADOPTED June 28, 2011
A RESOLUTION: AWARDING THE FY 2012 CONTRACTS FOR WORKERS'
COMPENSATION TO THE VIRGINIA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES
(VACO), AND FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE TO THE VIRGINIA
MUNICIPAL LEAGUE (VML)
WHEREAS, VACO has provided Workers' Compensation and Liability insurance coverage
for the Town of Leesburg since 2007; and
WHEREAS, bids were solicited and received from VACO and VML to provide the
Workers' Compensation and Liability insurance coverage for FY 2012; and
WHEREAS, McNeary and Associates analyzed the bids for the Town and offered the
options of either awarding the contract to VACO with a low bid of $584,285 or splitting the award
with VACO providing the coverage for Workers' Compensation, and VML providing Liability
Insurance coverage at a cost of $521,858; and
WHEREAS, VACO and VML agreed to split the award of the contract for FY 2012; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the contract award be split between VACO providing
workers' compensation coverage and VML providing liability insurance coverage.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The contract for Workers' Compensation coverage be awarded to the Virginia
Association of Counties and the contract for Liability Insurance coverage be awarded to the
Virginia Municipal League at a total cost of $521,858.
SECTION II. The Town Manager is hereby authorized to execute the contracts, in a form
approved by the Town Attorney, with the Virginia Association of Counties for Workers'
Compensation coverage and the Virginia Municipal League for Liability Insurance coverage.
