ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
AVIATION AND AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2012 -2017
AIRPORT FUND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM TO
INCLUDE A NORTH END ACCESS ROAD PROJECT FOR REPAIR
AND RECONSTRUCTION AT THE LEESBURG EXECUTIVE
AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the Airport's north access road to the condominiums, T- hangars and
corporate hangars is showing significant signs of stress; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance costs for this section of access road have been increasing
over the last few years; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Aviation has approved a grant to provide eighty percent
funding for the total project in the amount of $232,800; and
WHEREAS, the Town would be responsible for twenty percent of the funding in the
amount of $58,200; and
WHEREAS, Town staff and the Airport Commission endorse this project; and
WHEREAS, there is sufficient appropriation available within the Airport Fund Capital
Improvement Program to cover the FY 2012 cost of the North End Access Road project.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is authorized to accept a grant from the Virginia
Department of Aviation in the amount of $232,800 for repair and reconstruction of the north area
access road at the Leesburg Executive Airport.
SECTION II. The Fiscal Year 2012 -2017 Airport Fund Capital Improvements Program
is hereby amended and a project is added with an appropriation of $36,600 ($25,600 from

DOAV; $11,000 from the Town) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011 ending June 30, 2012
to begin design for the North End Access Road project. Funds will be provided from the current
Airport Fund FY 2012 Capital Improvements Program budget for this project.
