A RESOLUTION: ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF
AVIATION AND AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2012 -2017
AIRPORT FUND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM TO
INCLUDE A PROJECT FOR THREE HELIPADS AT LEESBURG
EXECUTIVE AIRPORT
WHEREAS, tenants of the Leesburg Executive Airport have requested the provision of
helipad areas that are designed to specifically meet the needs of helicopters; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Aviation has approved a grant to provide eighty
percent funding for the total project in the amount of $69,600; and
WHEREAS, the Town's cost for the total project would be twenty percent for the project
in the amount of $17,400; and
WHEREAS, Town staff and the Airport Commission endorse this project; and
WHEREAS, there is sufficient approporiation available in the Airport Fund Capital
Improvement Program to cover the FY 2012 cost of the helipad project.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:
SECTION I. The Town Manager is authorized to accept a grant from the Virginia
Department of Aviation in the amount of $69,600 for design and construction of three helipads at
the Leesburg Executive Airport.
SECTION II. The Fiscal Year 2012 -2017 Airport Fund Capital Improvements Program is
hereby amended and a project is added with an appropriation of $47,000 ($37,600 from DOAV;
$9,400 from the Town) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2011 ending June 30, 2012 to begin
design of the helipads. Funds will be provided from the current Airport Fund FY 2012 Capital
Improvements Program budget for this project.
