HomeMy Public PortalAbout2011_10_25_R132 - Initiating Amendments to TC re ParkingThe Town of Leesburg, Virginia RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -132 PRESENTED: October 25, 2011 ADOPTED: October 25, 2011 A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO PART II ARTICLE V SECTIONS 32 -141 AND 32 -143 OF THE LEESBURG TOWN CODE ADDRESSING MINOR CHANGES, MAKING CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS AS NECESSARY WHEREAS, the Town has developed a regular process and schedule for maintaining the Town Code for the purpose of making minor changes resulting from annual state mandated legislative changes, the correction of errors, inconsistencies or problems discovered in the day- to -day administration of the Town Code; and WHEREAS, Town Council's consideration of the proposed amendments will achieve the objective which includes the following: Article V (Stopping, Standing and Parking) Chapter 32 (Traffic and Vehicle Section) Section 32 -141 (Prohibited for certain purposes) including the prohibition of parking within a parking space reserved by appropriate sign for persons with disabilities on a public or private property, unless such vehicle displays a disabled parking license plate in accordance with Code of Virginia, § 46.12 -1241, and Code of Virginia, § 46.2- 739(B); and Section 32 -143 (Parking commercial vehicles on residential streets prohibited) (a) concerning the parking of any commercial vehicle in excess of 4 hours; the 4 hour time limitation shall not apply to commercial vehicles, weight exceeding 12,000 pounds, that are loaded with furniture and /or equipment to be unloaded within 48 hours so long as the vehicle is parked in one of the following locations; either the owner's of the commercial vehicle location, the origination or the destination location of the move; -2- A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO PART II ARTICLE V SECTIONS 32 -141 AND 32 -143 OF THE LEESBURG TOWN CODE ADDRESSING MINOR CHANGES, MAKING CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS AS NECESSARY. THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that: SECTION 1. Amendments to the Town Code are hereby initiated and referred to the Town Attorney and staff to make minor changes to implement Town Code amendments, to make corrections and clarifications, to make changes that address compliance with annual state code legislative changes. SECTION 2. The Town Council shall hold a public hearing to consider these amendments to the Town Code for adoption.
