A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 34 (UTILITIES)
ARTICLES II AND III AND APPENDIX B OF THE LEESBURG
TOWN CODE ESTABLISHING NEW AND REVISING VARIOUS
WATER AND SEWER CHARGES AND FEES
WHEREAS, the Town has developed a regular process and schedule for maintaining the Town
Code for the purpose of making minor changes resulting from annual state mandated legislative changes,
the correction of errors, inconsistencies or problems discovered in the day -to -day administration of the
Town Code; and
WHEREAS, Town Council's consideration of the proposed amendments will achieve the
objective which includes the following:
Chapter 34 (Utilities) Articles II and III and Appendix B (Fee Schedule)
Clarification of service charge for new accounts including transfers from one account
to another (Sec. 34 -59 — Water and Sec. 34 -163 — Sewer).
2. Clarification of a deposit being required if an account is discontinued for nonpayment
and an existing deposit is not on the account (Sec. 34 -69).
Establishment of a field service fee for multiple field visits to the same address and
same activity (Sec. 34 -71 — NEW).
4. Establishment of an unauthorized use of service and fee (Sec. 34 -72 — NEW).
5. Establishment of meter testing and leak check fees (Sec. 34 -73 — NEW).
6. Increase in fees to cover associated costs of
a. Resumption of water service from $20 to $30
b. Service Charge for new account from $20 to $30 ($15 Water /$15 Sewer)
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that:

TOWN CODE ESTABLISHING NEW AND REVISING VARIOUS
WATER AND SEWER CHARGES AND FEES
SECTION 1. Amendments to the Town Code are hereby initiated and referred to the
Town Attorney and staff to make minor changes to implement Town Code amendments as
described above.
SECTION 2. The Town Council shall hold a public hearing to consider these
amendments to the Town Code for adoption.
