RESOLUTION NO. 2011 -148 ADOPTED December 13, 2011
A RESOLUTION: RECOMMENDING CANDIDATES FOR VACANCIES ON THE BOARD
OF ZONING APPEALS TO THE CIRCUIT COURT
WHEREAS, the clerk of the Town Council advertised in the Loudoun Times Mirror for
persons who may be interested in serving on the Board of Zoning Appeals, with no response; and
WHEREAS, members of the Board of Zoning Appeals are appointed by the Chief Judge of
the Circuit Court; and
WHEREAS, the term of Elizabeth H. Coomes expires December 31, 2011, and the term of
Susan Moffett expires December 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth H. Coomes and Susan Moffett have submitted letters of interest in
being reappointed to serve another term; and
WHEREAS, the terms for the two expired seats are to be two and five years in order to
stagger the expiration of Board Members pursuant to Virginia Code; and
WHEREAS, Susan Moffett and Elizabeth Coomes have expessed an interest in being
appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals and both are residents of`.the Town of Leesburg and do
not serve on any other Town boards or commissions
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
1. Council recommends that Elizabeth Coomes be appointed to an additional term as
member of the Board of Zoning Appeals for two years.
2. Council recommends that Susan Moffett be appointed to an additional term as member
of the Board of Zoning Appeals for five years.
3. The Town Attorney is directed to send Council's recommendation to the Chief Judge of
the Circuit Court.
