Leesburg Kiwanis to Host 56th Annual Halloween Parade on
Wednesday, October 31, 2012
Leesburg, VA (October 3, 2012) – The 56th annual Leesburg Halloween Parade, hosted and
organized by the Leesburg Kiwanis Club, will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 through
downtown Leesburg. One of the oldest Halloween parades in the eastern United States, the
parade will begin at 6:00 pm, starting in the front field at Ida Lee Park and proceeding down
King Street to Fairfax Street.
The Leesburg Kiwanis are seeking parade participants. Entry fee for the parade is a donation of
non-perishable food, paper products or money to Loudoun Interfaith Relief’s food bank. Prizes
will be awarded for the best decorated floats in the following categories: Best Overall, Most
Creative and Best Interpretation of the Halloween Theme. For more information about the
parade, including participation guidelines and registration forms, please visit
www.leesburgkiwanis.org.
Parade spectators are also encouraged to bring donations for the food bank. There will be
donation boxes places along the parade route. In addition, Interfaith Relief’s van will be the last
vehicle in the parade and spectators can hand their donations to the volunteers walking with
the van. Please visit Interfaith Relief’s website for a list of most needed items.
King Street will be closed from Battlefield Parkway to Catoctin Circle from 5:30 p.m. until
approximately 8:00 p.m. for the parade. The street will be reopened once clean-up operations
by the Town’s Public Works Department are completed. Motorists should plan on alternate
travel routes during this time and follow the designated detours.
