RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -020 ADOPTED February 14, 2012
RESOLUTION: PROVIDING AN EXTENSION FOR THE PAYMENT OF TAX YEAR
2011 PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES
WHEREAS, §58.1 -3916 of the Code of Virginia provides that the governing body of any
county, city, or town may provide for a reasonable extension of time, not to exceed 90 days, for
the payment of personal property taxes whenever good cause exists; and
WHEREAS, the director of finance finds that because of personnel staffing issues beyond
the control of the department of finance a portion of personal property taxes for tax year 2011
cannot be collected before April 15, 2012;
THEREFORE RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
due date for the payment of tax year 2011 personal property taxes is hereby extended until April
15, 2012.
