Woodland Jr., District D Councilor Watertown Town Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 Committee on State, Federal and Regional Government Meeting Minutes Tuesday, March 20 at 6:10 PM Present: Councilor Kounelis, Chair Councilor Falkoff, Vice Chair Councilor Palomba, Secretary Purpose: To interview Mr. Louis Fabrizio for reappointment to the Board of Election Commissioners for a term of four years, ending April 1, 2016 Mr. Fabrizio noted that since he was appointed in 2008 there has been significant turn- over in members and that the present Commission members have learned to successfully work together. They have conducted a series of special elections, write-in elections and recounts as well as regularly scheduled elections. He felt that the integrity of the election process has been upheld during all elections and recounts. He also acknowledge the contribution of Mr. Chris Sullivan, who has recently joined the office of the Town Clerk. Mr. Sullivan has conducted a number of trainings for poll workers. In response to Councilor Falkoff's question regarding the availability of minutes of the Commission's meeting, he acknowledge that this should have been a regular practice and in the future would see that minutes would be made available to the public. He responded to Councilor Kounelis' question regarding what he would like to see happen during his next term with two recommendations — continue regular trainings of poll workers and increase efforts to recruit new poll workers. Councilor Falkoff made a motion to reappoint Mr. Fabrizio to a second, 4 -year term to the Election Commission. Councilor Palomba seconded the motion and it was passed by a 3 — 0 vote. Councilor Kounelis made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 PM. The motion was seconded and passed.
