A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF REAL PROPERTY TO THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LOUDOUN COUNTY, VIRGINIA
ACQUIRED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BATTLEFIELD
PARKWAY — EDWARDS FERRY ROAD TO FORT EVANS ROAD
PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg, as part of the Battlefield Parkway — Edwards Ferry
Road to Fort Evans project, acquired a 1,968 square foot or 0.0452 acre parcel of land dedicated for
public street purposes on the south side of Edwards Ferry Road in Loudoun County, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) maintains the roadways
and streets within the Secondary System of State Highways in Loudoun County; and
WHEREAS, that portion of Edwards Ferry Road east of the corporate limits of the Town of
Leesburg is a part of the Secondary System of Roadways that is maintained by VDOT; and
WHEREAS, Loudoun County has requested the portion of the right of way dedicated for
public street purposes acquired for the Battlefield Parkway - Edwards Ferry Road to Fort Evans
project, located outside the corporate limits of the Town of Leesburg, be conveyed to Loudoun
County for VDOT maintenance of the roadway; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg is empowered by Virginia Code Sections 15.2 -1800 and
15.2 -2100 to convey such property following appropriate public notice and public hearing; and
WHEREAS, notice was published in a publication of general circulation and a public
hearing was held.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Council authorizes the conveyance of a 1,968 square foot strip or parcel of land dedicated for
public street purposes and located on the south side of Edwards Ferry Road to the Board of
Supervisors of Loudoun County, Virginia; and further, the Mayor or her designee is authorized to
