Leesburg to Dedicate Memorial Tree at Raflo Park
in Honor of Virginia McGuire
Leesburg, VA (October 5, 2012) – The Town of Leesburg will honor
Virginia S. McGuire’s life and service to the community with a brief
ceremony in Raflo Park, on Saturday October 13, 2012, at 10:00 am.
The event will feature the dedication of a Sweetbay Magnolia tree
planted in memory of Ms. McGuire, who passed away on April 14,
2011.
Virginia McGuire served the Town for more than four years on
Leesburg’s Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC) beginning in
July 2006. For two of those years, she was the Chair of the EAC.
Ms. McGuire dedicated countless hours to helping others and improving our local community
by inspiring people to respect animals and the natural environment. The Leesburg Town Council
passed a Resolution of Respect extending their sympathy and respect to Ms. McGuire’s family
in June 2011.
Everyone wishing to pay respect to Ms. McGuire is invited to attend the tree dedication
ceremony.
