A RESOLUTION: RECOMMENDING THE LOUDOUN COUNTY BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS DIRECT THEIR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE TO IMPLEMENT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
LOUDOUN COUNTY ARTS AND CULTURAL DISTRICT TO
ENHANCE AND SUPPORT THE LEESBURG ARTS AND CULTURAL
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, The Leesburg Arts and Cultural District was enacted by the Leesburg Town
Council on March 8, 2011; and
WHEREAS, a main goal of the Leesburg Arts and Cultural District is to expand and attract
arts and cultural businesses to the district; and
WHEREAS, over the past several months, Town and County economic development staff
have conducted research and fiscal analysis which supports the benefits of participation by Loudoun
County in the Leesburg Arts and Cultural District; and
WHEREAS, On April 13, 2012, the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission
adopted a motion which recommends to the " Loudoun County Board of Supervisors that they
direct staff to further investigate the establishment of a County Arts and Cultural District to
complement and support the Leesburg Arts and Cultural District ".
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Leesburg Town Council hereby recommends the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors direct their
Economic Development Committee to implement the establishment of a Loudoun County Arts and
Cultural District to enhance and support the Leesburg Arts and Cultural District.

LOUDOUN COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION TO
FURTHER INVESTIGATE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COUNTY
ARTS AND CULTURAL DISTRICT TO ENHANCE AND SUPPORT THE
LEESBURG ARTS AND CULTURAL DISTRICT
