RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -067 ADOPTED June 12, 2012
A RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY TO
THE TOWN OF PURCELLVILLE VIRGINIA.
WHEREAS, each year the Town of Leesburg declares surplus equipment and vehicles
for disposal; and
WHEREAS, the Town Manager is authorized to advertise and sell surplus equipment and
vehicles with the exception of items to be donated to certain organizations in accordance with the
procedures implemented by the Finance Department; and
WHEREAS, this vehicle no longer can serve a purpose with the Leesburg Police
Department as its capabilities no longer fit mission requirements and the cost of repair for this
vehicle has increased due its age and condition, and the availability of replacement parts; and
WHEREAS, the town of Purcellville Virginia has requested this vehicle and indicated
that it can fill a need for its community; and
WHEREAS, the mayor and council are strong supporters of regional cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police supports this donation.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the
Town Manager is authorized to donate a surplus vehicle (1989 Ford Econoline Ambulance VIN#
1FDKE30M7KHA96580) to the Town of Purcellville, Virginia once it has been declared surplus
property for disposal.
