Artists Reception for Monroe Tech Student Exhibit Planned for
Friday, March 1, 2019
Works by graphic communications students will be on display at the Leesburg
Town Hall until May 31, 2019.
Leesburg, VA (February 26, 2019) – The Leesburg
Commission on Public Art is pleased to announce a
new art exhibit on the first floor of Leesburg's Town
Hall (25 West Market Street).
The work featured is from Pam Smith’s graphic
communication classes at Monroe Advanced
Technical Academy (MATA). The mixed media
exhibit includes photographs, ink drawings, oils,
lithographs, and pastels. An opening reception is
planned for Friday, March 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Graphic communications is a two-year program offered to 11th and 12th grade students at
MATA. The program introduces the student to the graphic communication industry and
provides technical training in design and digital imaging.
Part of Loudoun County Public Schools’ Academies of Loudoun campus, MATA is an
instructional center that serves as a site for 27 career-preparation pathways. The instructional
focus is to provide significant and relevant learning in Career & Technical Education, which
allows students to explore and innovate while preparing for 21st century college and careers.
The first and second floor lobbies and hallways of the Leesburg Town Hall feature rotating
exhibits by Leesburg and Loudoun artists. Artists interested having their work considered for a
future exhibit in the Town Hall should contact Anne Geiger, staff liaison to the Commission on
Public Art, at ageiger@leesburgva.gov.
