Leesburg Property Owners to Receive Consolidated Real Estate
Tax Bills from Loudoun County
Property owners will no longer received separate tax bills from the
Town of Leesburg.
Leesburg, VA (April 25, 2019) – As of January 1, 2019, Loudoun County has assumed
responsibility for billing, collecting, and administering real estate taxes for the Town of
Leesburg.
Under the new consolidated system, residents and businesses in Leesburg will no longer receive
two separate bills with separate due dates for county and town real estate taxes. Instead,
residents and businesses will receive one bill listing both county and town taxes. This change
will result in taxpayers making a single payment made to Loudoun County. The Loudoun County
Treasurer’s Office will process the tax payments and remit the appropriate amount to the town.
The Loudoun County Treasurer’s Office will also undertake collection efforts for accounts which
may become delinquent after the January 1, 2019, effective date. Leesburg will continue to
collect delinquent real estate taxes due for 2018 and years prior to 2018.
“By consolidating real estate tax bills, we are simplifying the tax payment process for our
property owners,” said Clark Case, Leesburg’s Director of Finance and Administrative Services.
