A RESOLUTION: DEVELOPMENT OF A PUBLIC ART MURAL FOR THE TOWN
PARKING FACILITY
WHEREAS there is, and has been, interest in artwork on the Town garage facing Loudoun
Street; and
WHEREAS outside funding may be available for such artwork; and
WHERERAS the process for using outside funding for artwork on Town property must
conform to all applicable Virginia law; and
WHEREAS the Public Art Commission has been contacted by multiple parties potentially
interested in providing and funding such artwork; and
WHEREAS such artwork may require changes to Leesburg's code and/or ordinances.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Leesburg Commission on Public Art develop a recommendation for a mural on the Loudoun
Street side of the Town Parking Garage and report it to the Town Council no later than the
Council's first meeting in March 2013. The recommendation shall include at least the following:
• A specific funding plan for the mural and related costs including ongoing
maintenance;
• A mural theme;
• A proposed request- for - proposal or call for art for artists to develop the mural;
• The process by which the artist and artwork will be selected; and
• Any required or recommended changes to Leesburg's code and /or ordinances; and
• The expected timeline for the mural completion.
