A RESOLUTION: INITIATING AMENDMENT TO THE TOWN CODE, PART TWO SECTION 2-
197 COMPENSATION FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND APPOINTEES TO
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
WHEREAS, pursuant to Leesburg Town Code, Part 2, Section 2 -197 as amended, the Town is
authorized to compensate its mayor, town council members, and members of boards and commissions; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to §§ 15.2 -1411 (compensation of boards and commissions), 15.2- 1414.7
(compensation and benefits of mayor and town council), 15.2 -1517 (insurance benefits for boards and
commissions), 15.2 -2210 (compensation for planning commission), and 15.2 -2306 (compensation for Board
of Architectural Review) of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, the Town is authorized to compensate
its mayor, town council members, and members of boards and commissions with salaries and compensation
as well as such benefits that are provided to employees of the Town; and
WHEREAS, compensation for the mayor and town council has not been modified since May 23,
2000, Ordinance No. 2000 -0 -17; and
THEREFORE, RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that staff shall
review the compensation and other benefits available to the mayor, members of the town council, and
members of boards and commissions and if directed by Council, advertise amendments to the Town Code to
effectuate the changes.
