Battlefield Parkway Closure at Route 7 Scheduled to Begin in
Late July
Detours will be in place for ten months while new grade-separated interchange
is under construction.
Leesburg, VA (July 2, 2020) – The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia
District released details of the detour plans for the ten-month closure of Battlefield Parkway at
Route 7 today. The closure, which is expected to begin in late July, is necessary for the
construction of the bridge that will carry Battlefield Parkway over Route 7.
Once the closure is in place, the traffic signal at the intersection will be removed. Through -
traffic on Route 7 will not be affected by the detours.
Traffic will be detoured around the closu re via Crosstrail Boulevard and Russell Branch Parkway
or River Creek Parkway and Fort Evans Road, depending on the direction. During the Battlefield
Parkway closure, motorists should expect to see additional traffic enforcement efforts in the
construction zone and along the detour routes.
