“Walking for Black Lives” March Scheduled for Sunday, July 5,
2020, in Downtown Leesburg Canceled
Leesburg, VA (July 3, 2020) – The "Walking for Black Lives" march planned for Sunday, July 5,
2020, has been canceled.
The event organizer issued this statement regarding the event cancellation: "Since Loudoun
County is moving forward to legally remove the statue and the Daughters of the Confederacy
has asked for the statue back the Loudoun Clergy and Faith Leaders Group has decided to
cancel the July 5th silent walk. We continue to support justice and black lives matter and will
determine a future event in the near future to help i n cause of justice and countering systemic
racism."
