Christopher Spera is Leesburg’s New Town Attorney
Leesburg, VA (July 28, 2020) – At this evening’s meeting, the
Leesburg Town Council appointed Christopher Spera to the
position of Town Attorney. Spera was selected after a
nationwide search coordinated by Novak Consulting Group.
Mr. Spera has over 11 years experience as a local
government attorney in Virginia, having served as Deputy
City Attorney and Assistant City Attorney for the City of
Alexandria, from 2005 to 2016. He is currently Vice
President and General Counsel for the Old Dominion
Transportation Group in Alexandria, Virginia, and previously
worked for Deckelbaum, Ogens & Raftery in Bethesda,
Maryland, and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage
Corporation in McLean, Virginia. Spera brings extensive negotiation, ligitation, and government
ethics expertise to his new position.
Mr. Spera holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a
bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
“I am honored to have been selected as the next Leesburg Town Attorney. I look forward to
joining the talented group of professionals Town Manager Dentler has assembled. The mission
of supporting the Town Council, the staff, and the residents of the Leesburg community is an
important one and I am excited to get started,” he said upon accepting the appointment.
Mr. Spera is expected to begin with the Town on Monday, August 17, 2020.
