“We Are Leesburg” Video Selfies Wanted
The Leesburg Diversity Commission is seeking submissions of video selfies by
Leesburg residents.
Leesburg, VA (October 21, 2020) – The Leesburg Diversity Commission wants to celebrate the
diversity of Leesburg residents by creating a “We Are Leesburg” video. Residents are
encouraged to record video selfies of themselves and their family members saying “I am
Leesburg” or “We are Leesburg” and submit the videos for inclusion in a compilation video. The
finished video will be shared on the town’s social media accounts.
“We want to highlight how diverse and inclusive Leesburg is,” says Diversity Commission Vice
Chair Linda McCray, who is heading up the video project. “We want to celebrate our diversity
across all spectrums – race, age, disability, ethnicity, religion, language. We are asking residents
to record very short videos, maybe five seconds long. In particular, we’d like for residents who
speak a language other than English at home to say “We are Leesburg” in their native languages
as well as English.”
Videos may be emailed or texted to Betsy Arnett, the Diversity Commission’s staff liaison, at
barnett@leesburgva.gov or 571-246-8095.
Deadline for submissions is November 30, 2020.
